Smoked hot Spanish paprika was selected for this spicy blend due to its bittersweet smoky flavor. Referred to as pimenton in traditional cooking, Spanish paprika is commonly made with smoked peppers, which provides a smokier flavor than common or Hungarian paprika. Spanish paprika comes in different levels of heat and sweetness, ranging from ulce (sweet), agrodulce (bittersweet), or picante (hot).
